Cross County Cartage History
Cross County Cartage, an entity of Harvey D. Bailey, Inc.,
started in 1984 with one tractor and one leased trailer. Under the
leadership of Harvey D. Bailey, owner and president of Harvey D. Bailey, Inc.,
Cross County Cartage has flourished.
Harvey began his career in the transportation industry in 1969 as a part-time
bill clerk while pursuing a business degree at Delta State University in
Cleveland, Mississippi. He subsequently worked in many different
capacities for various trucklines, some of whom fell to the wayside due to
deregulation in the 1980's. Harvey felt that it was a good time to begin
taking control of his own destiny.
Under a watchful eye, Cross County Cartage has grown to 20 power units and 60
trailers. Depending on the economy and business trends, you may find any
number of owner-operators and leased equipment supplementing the company fleet.
Most of the trailers utilized by Cross County Cartage are 53' air-ride
equipped. And, in addition, all have global positioning systems (GPS)
attached to them, enabling the company to track and locate a particular unit at
any given time.
One of the most important growth factors of Cross County Cartage was the
construction of its own facility in 1995. The building is 35,000 square
feet located on 9 acres. The facility is equipped with a security alarm
system, monitored 24 hours a day, a 6' cyclone fence topped with razor wire, 24
hour camera surveillance inside and outside and guard service when appropriate.
The employment base of Cross County Cartage has grown to support over 40
families. This includes our Celina, Ohio brokerage office, which is under
the supervision of Lisa Stahl (800-860-0150).
The management team of Cross County Cartage provides many, many years of
experience in all phases of the transportation industry.
Cross County Cartage provides truckload and LTL service throughout all 48
continental states with either its own equipment, or using its freight brokerage
capabilities.
Locally, Cross County Cartage provides warehousing, distribution and movement of
shipments within Cincinnati and the surrounding area. We physically move
customers who are changing their location. In addition, we are available
to provide assistance to out-of-town carriers who need help with missed
appointments or rearranging their loads.
Cross County Cartage is a fully licensed hazardous material carrier. The
U.S. DOT rating has always been "satisfactory". The company
carries liability coverage of $1,000,000 and cargo insurance of $100,000.
Because of good standing with our insurance carrier, for special occasions
we are capable of increasing coverage for particular shipments with just one
phone call.
